Dominique White, Ph.D. is a California licensed clinical psychologist (PSY32743) who enjoys working with individuals to help cultivate growth, understanding, and healing. Dr. White specializes in working with clients experiencing challenges related to anxiety, depression, specific phobias, mood disorders, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and trauma. Additionally, she enjoys working with people who are looking to grow, heal, or better understand themselves and their values. She believes individuals experiencing life changes such as difficulties in relationships, work stressors, becoming parents, or transitioning to other new roles in their lives can benefit greatly from having a safe space to feel heard, understood, and seen. Dr. White aims to build on her clients' existing strengths and discover what they find meaningful in life.
APPROACH
Dr. White uses a collaborative, strengths-based, multicultural approach with all of her clients to accomplish her goal of creating an honest, open, and warm therapeutic environment. She strongly believes in building rapport to best allow clients and therapists to work together to meet personalized treatment goals. Dr. White is trained in and utilizes evidence-based treatments including multiple variations of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She also specializes in trauma-informed therapies such as Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and trauma-focused CBT. Dr. White tailors her approach to each client to be compatible with an individual’s treatment goals and vision for therapy. Her goal throughout therapy is to help individuals elevate their experience of life and become the best versions of themselves.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Dr. White received her M.S. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. Dominique completed her predoctoral internship at Rutgers University followed by a formal postdoctoral fellowship at the VA Long Beach Healthcare System with dual specialties of Advanced Interprofessional Mental Health and Women Specific Mental Healthcare. She has received extensive training in evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Relapse Prevention, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). In addition, she has further specialized training in trauma specific treatments including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and trauma-focused CBT. Dominique also has comprehensive and expansive training and experience in administration and interpretation of cognitive, personality, and vocational assessments.
